What's the Difference?

This is one of the first things Whiteout Survival makes confusing.

Your Chief = you.

Your Chief represents your overall account and settlement.

Chief-related progression improves your city, troops, research, construction, and later systems such as Chief Gear and Chief Charms.

Heroes = commanders you send out.

Heroes lead troops in marches, rallies, garrisons, Exploration, Arena, and other activities.

Each Hero specializes in one troop type:

  • 🛡️ Infantry
  • 🐎 Lancer
  • 🏹 Archer

Heroes also have two different skill groups:

Exploration Skills

Used when the Heroes themselves are fighting, such as Exploration and Arena.

Expedition Skills

Used when Heroes are commanding troops in marches, rallies, garrisons, beasts, Polar Terrors, and other troop-based activities.

🍪 COOKIE TIP

A Hero with higher Power is not automatically the best Hero for every job.

A lower-Power Hero with the right Expedition Skill can be far more useful than a stronger Hero being used for the wrong purpose.

That is also why we care about which Hero is in the first position when joining a rally.
